Permanent Residency Visa

Temporary Visa holders qualify to apply for a Permanent Residency Visa after maintaining the Temporary Visa for at least 21 months. To apply, the Temporary Visa holder must not have left the country for more than 90 days after the Visa was issued.

To maintain the Permanent Residency Visa, the holder must observe a 180-day travel restriction for the first two years. After two years of holding a Permanent Residency Visa, you can leave the country for up to two years.

After maintaining a Permanent Residency Visa for three years, the Visa holder is eligible to apply for citizenship, provided they have followed the travel restrictions.

How Much Does an Ecuadorian Permanent Residency Visa Cost?

Gringo Visas charges an all-inclusive fee of $950 for Permanent Visas. Clients aged 65 and older pay $800.

  • Ecuadorian police report

  • Notarizations for all documents

  • Cedula ID government fee and processing

  • Immigration movement records and forms

  • Power of attorney

    • After receiving Permanent Residence Visa no further Visa applications or Visa renewals are needed (*travel restrictions must be followed)

    • Add dependants for Permanent Residency Visas: spouse, children, parents

    • Apply for citizenship after holding Permanent Residency Visa for three years

    • Temporary Resident Visa holder can’t leave Ecuador for more than 90 days total during 21 month period

      • If 90 days out of Ecuador has been exceeded you are ineligible to apply for permanent residency, but can renew your Temporary Visa. Multiple renewals are permitted.

    • Present either:

      • Last 12 months of bank statements proving minimum monthly income requirement of $475.
        For joint accounts, the deposit must show at least $950 per month

      • Six months statements of your IESS affiliation

    • Immigration movement record

    • Ecuadorian Police Reports

    • Process includes:

      • Collect all necessary documents (bank statements, police reports, immigration movement record, etc.)

      • Complete all application forms

      • Present the application to Ministry of Foreign Affairs

      • Renew cedula (after receiving Permanent Residency Visa)

    • Start the process six months before Temporary Visa expires

    • Submit Permanent Residency Visa application three months before Temporary Visa expires
